A good walking stick is a friend to any walker. Staffs, crooks and walking sticks have served walkers for centuries both aiding their passage and helping them in their jobs.

Whilst it may be easy to strip a branch into a simple staff or buy an aluminium walking spike on the high street, nothing can be as personal or special as a traditional hand-made and hand-carved walking stick.

On our one-day course you will be introduced to the ancient art of stick making. Select the correct wood for your walking style; decide on a design and feel. Straighten the wood for strength, reinforce the tip and make and carve a handle with your own hands.

At the end of the course you will leave with your own hand carved stick to aid and accompany you on your next country walk, or you could give it as a personal gift.
